This guide gets you from brand-new login to your first visible roll on stream in about 10 minutes.
If you want the quickest win, follow this exactly once, then come back later for deeper setup guides.
What you will finish with
- A StreamRoll account linked and ready.
- The dice overlay added to your streaming software.
- One test roll that appears on stream.
Before you start
Have these open before you begin:
- StreamRoll in your browser.
- Your streaming software (OBS or similar).
- Your stream scene where the overlay should appear.
1. Sign in to StreamRoll
Go to streamroll.io and sign in with your preferred account.
When the dashboard loads, you are ready for overlay setup.
2. Add the Dice overlay to your scene
In StreamRoll, open the play/overlay page and copy the overlay URL.
In OBS:
- Open the scene you stream from.
- Add a new Browser Source.
- Paste the StreamRoll overlay URL.
- Set width/height to match your canvas (for example 1920x1080).
- Move the source where you want the rolls to appear.
Tip: put the dice overlay above gameplay/background layers so it is clearly visible.
3. Create one simple roll config
In StreamRoll, open the Dice tab and create a basic config:
- Name: something obvious like
Quick Test D20. - Dice: 1x D20.
- Style/colors: leave defaults for now.
- Save the config.
4. Trigger a test roll
From StreamRoll controls, trigger your roll from the created config.
You should now see the roll animation/output on your overlay in OBS.
5. Verify on stream output
Run one more roll while previewing your scene.
Confirm all three checks:
- The dice animation appears where expected.
- The result is readable at your stream resolution.
- The overlay is not hidden by other sources.
6. Next Steps
- Try using the rolled list and see the values being tracked.
- Add more configs or customisations.
- Check out more of the guides for more inspiration!
If it did not work
- Nothing appears:
- Re-check the Browser Source URL and confirm it is the StreamRoll overlay URL.
- Refresh the Browser Source.
- Overlay appears but no roll output:
- Trigger the roll again from StreamRoll controls.
- Confirm you are testing the same account/session.
- Roll is off-screen or tiny:
- Resize or reposition the Browser Source in OBS.
